Self Obliteration
In creating this piece, I was tasked with creating a portrait of myself which reflected my artistic talents, even when on an extremely large scale. I chose to connect this piece to an artist whom I have been studying, Yayoi Kusama, as the grandiose scale of this piece coupled with the oblong forms that make up faces made me think of how scale and form are used to draw interest to the central meaning of a piece in her installation series “Dots Obsession”. the composition of this piece was inspired by Andy Warhol's "Self Portrait (Red)".
